The Proposal- His Story

After a long wait, Ashley brought home news that we would be going to her first Chicago Bears football game ever.  She had gotten tickets from her boss at work, a season ticket holder.  Immediately I began to think back to my first game and how memorable it was.  I had so much fun and many great memories, I knew I had to make her first game a memorable one.

I had thought of many different ways to propose for the past 6 months or so, but it seemed every time I would think this would be a great way to propose, Ashley would somehow find out, or expect it given the right setting.  The game really seemed like the only place I knew she wouldn't expect it.  Well, after 6 years, a girl should expect it everyday, right ladies?

We grabbed our favorite sub sandwiches from Quizno's, and got on the train to the game.  I had forgotten how crazy the security is at the gates, and how long the lines are, so we waited outside as pregame and kickoff happened.  Once we got into the stadium, we headed straight for our seats.  We were right by the tunnel where the players ran out of, great seats!  The game was fun to watch, and Ashley was having a great time.  She had no idea what the end of the game would hold for her.

The game ended and we took some pictures of the field and stadium.  We got a couple pictures of us standing in front of the field.  As the stadium emptied, I told Ash we needed to get a few pictures of the columns that are so legendary at Soldier Field.  We get up to them, and she starts taking pictures.  Shortly after, a security guard tells us we need to leave.  I see my window of oppertunity shrinking as I yell to him, "One more picture!"  He agrees, Ashley snaps my picture and starts to head toward the stairs.  Just as she turned away from me, I took the ring out of my pocket, knelt down on one knee and yelled, "Ash!!"  She turned back around as I said, "Will you marry me?"  The look on her face was priceless.  She had no idea, and asked if I was serious.  I laughed and smiled and she ran back over to me and gave me a huge hug and kiss.

On the way out of the stadium, Ashely started texting and calling everyone telling them the news.  We are both excited as we embark on a great and loving journey together.  She is the love of my life and wouldn't have it any other way!
